Cleaning Tip 4

KEEP SHOWER WALLS AND FLOORS LOOKING SHINIER LONGER BY USING GLYCERIN OR VEGETABLE OIL-BASED SOAPS FOR A CLEANER, NO-SCUM RINSE!
One of the toughest areas to clean in your home is the shower/bathtub.  Even though you may keep it tidy and have a regular cleaning routine, somehow it never looks as great as it did when you first had it installed.  While normal wear and tear and time do play a significant factor in the look of your bathroom, you can get a lot more longevity out of those fixtures and a healthier clean by watching what types of soaps and chemicals you use.
Traditional soaps leave white, gummy scum crusted onto your shower walls and floors.  There are really only two solutions for this issue.  First off, you can wipe down the shower/bath after each use.  By using a towel to wipe out the soap film and water, you can keep your tub looking fabulous.  Even using an inexpensive squeegee to scrub from top to bottom and then wiping out with a towel does the trick.  The only issue with this method is that it can be quite time consuming and you have to get in the habit of doing it after EACH use.
Another way to eliminate foul stains and crust is to simply switch the types of soap you are using.  Glycerin and vegetable oil-based soaps do not leave rings or scum behind and produce a cleaner rinse overall.   Brands like Pears, Dr. Bronner’s and Neutrogena work best.  This is a much more feasible solution for those who don’t have the time to properly maintain their tub outside of normal cleaning routines.  Glycerin soap even has amazing benefits for your skin such as locking in moisture and handling sensitive skin or specific skin conditions.
During your normal tub/shower cleaning routine, remember that baking soda is your best friend and goes a long way in eliminating even the toughest soap scum.
